me back in the day…
and a recent selfie
I grew up on Long Island in the 1950's and 60's. After college I studied camera, lighting technique, and film syntax at The Film School in Cambridge, MA. It was in the basement spaces of an art moviehouse/restaurant complex named for Orson Welles - a basement filled with the fire of us young…cinéastes.
I was there about a year. The rest I learned on set with the help of many generous mentors.
Eventually I enjoyed a 35-year career as a cinematographer and member of both the International Cinematographers Guild and the Directors Guild of America. These days I’m in East Marion making pictures on Long Island’s North Fork.
